MOTM Rack "ears"

MOTM Rack "ears"

2000-10-28 by alt-mode

Hey Paul,

What ever happened to the "rack ears" to cover up the gap at the edges of MOTM
racks? I know Larry has some prototypes and you got some at one time but they were
measured wrong. What's the plan for these?

   Eric

I also have several I made myself before the, err.... proto-types..... were
made. They were unpainted brushed aluminum. Although not as spiffy as the
matching paint ones, they were better to me than the open gap. If you have
a hack saw, and a drill, you can make your own. Go to Lowes or some similar
home improvement type store and you can find "project aluminum is 4 and 8
foot lengths that is the right thickness (0.125" or 1/8") and right width
(3/4"). So, all you have to do is cut to length and drill two holes.
Granted, it is not official MOTM, but, it looked nice in my rack. It may
hold you over.

Well, in order to do it right, the tooling is high. I'd need to order a
custom punch (~$120)
and that's a factor. But, I'll revisit this later.
