[motm] 12 position rotary switches at All Electronics

2003-06-03 by jwbarlow@aol.com

I just got a few of these sealed 12 position switches. They look to be fine.
They have a smoother feel (less physical "resistance" to being turned than the
Blacet Frequency Divider switches). These might be good for those building
either a MOTM-ized Blacet FD or the Hendry range selector (822? is it?).

Go to:

and look for:

RS-117 ($1.75 each)

From the description, I cannot determine if these are 2-12 adjustable stops or 12 position continuous. One is good for the step switch the other good for the octave switch. These appear the OK diameter for all rack mounting and all but the top switch in wood cabinets which requires a switch of smaller diameter.

Hey Larry,

Not understanding the first part....I'll have a go anyway.

The switches don't rotate continuously (i.e., all the way around) they go
from say 1 o'clock to 12 o'clock (a la the Blacet FD), and so would be better
suited for octave switching IMHO.

The diameter of the (back of) the switch is a bit more than an inch (looks
like 17/16"). I'd forgotten about the mounting issue with the switches and the
wood cabinets and the thing.
