Module proximity to power supply

Module proximity to power supply

2001-09-23 by mrnezumi@yahoo.com

Hello,

I'm not very knowledgable about electronics so this might be a stupid
question. I have two 12 unit (21") long wood cabinets, the first of
which I just filled. I'm now working on the layout of the second
cabinet. I use wood rails and bolt/nut the modules to them. I noticed
that my cabinet is deep enough (7 1/2" or so) that I could mount the
power module (as is/assembled) on the backside if I put a 910 and 800s
across from it in the front. This would put the 910 about 1 1/2" - 2"
away from the transformer and the pc board for the 800 would be in
line with the pc board for the 900 with about 1" - 1 1/2" between
them. Is this all right? The power supply doesn't seem to get very
warm, but I'm wondering if the close proximity would have any effect,
particularly on the 910. I'd like to do this if possible because it
gives me 3 more units of space, which I'm sure I'll fill :-)

Thanx,
Mr. Nezumi

The only modules I wouldn't mount like that would be the '300 VCO. The 910
and 800 are the LEAST heat-sensitive
modules. You will be OK.
