1 more thing....

A 1U tall, 19" wide panel *may* no be stiff enough in the middle
not to flex a bit when inserting jacks.

a 2U tall most definitely will NOT budge.

I will see if the metal shop will fab a dummy panel. Else, I may
use steel (boy THAT would weigh alot! But since it would look like
Swiss cheese, maybe not that bad)

OR...I could have the part L-shaped form 0.090 material....I'll keep
pondering.

Maybe use 0.125 Al but have support steel frame screwed in behind it......
