Yes that's my point . I don't think that ESX instruments can share the same
midi channel.
I'm trying to figure out the reasoning behind this. Perhaps there is a
structure I don't know about or perhaps I am stuck in my ways.
For example with Sample Cell the structure would be: Banks, Instruments,
Samples.
So a Bank would for example be a drum kit. The instruments within the Bank
would be Kick, Snare, Toms, Hats, Perc and the Samples would be the
individual components of each instrument.
Each instrument would therefore have its own midi channel and output or
share the same midi channel and output or share the same midi channel and
have a different output or vice versa.
Being used to this versatile method I don't understand why the EXS won't
allow different instruments to have the same midi channel. It's possible to
select the same channel but the instrument won't play.
If one could select and thereby play more than one ESX instrument on the
arrange page then this problem would be somewhat bypassed. Can this be done?
Maybe there is some method using the environment to create an instrument
that plays more than one ESX at a time, given that they are on different
midi channels. Any Environment gurus out there?
