Reseat all the connectors and socketed IC's on the logic board. That is where I would start. have you disconected the analog board as thats what you get when you put the cable back the wrong way its a analog board problem your not even getting to boot status do what ted says re seat the chips in there sockets and make sure the pinone on the analog board is lined up with pin 1 on the cable from the main board

I have exactly the same fault, check the power supply or any capacitor exploited, otherwise you have a logig issue with some IC, hopefully not the main processor, Pals or the TCU. Forgot to mention that you could check any "cold soldering" in the board. suerte! --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, krikor kouchian <krikorola@...> wrote:

thank you Cheju, i'm gonna go through the capacitor check. i hope it's not an IC which would be a real pain in the ass to fix. http://www.krikor.fr +33632199413 bookings: France/Suisse/Benelux: fanyktdj@... World: laetitia@... [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

from what i read in the service manual, Cheju is right, it could be either the CPU, the Echip/MCL, or the timer. But the fact that the LED and display go crazy is directly related to the main CPU, from the block diagram info. Can this part be replaced? i have the feeling it can't http://www.krikor.fr +33632199413 bookings: France/Suisse/Benelux: fanyktdj@... World: laetitia@... i'm afraid the cpu is dead as the led and display is directly controlled by it: http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/8782/lehavre2012070900215.jpg i checked all ribbons, everything seems fine, sometimes it starts up as usual but won't access the floppy, sometimes it starts up as in the first picture i posted yesterday. http://www.krikor.fr +33632199413 bookings: France/Suisse/Benelux: fanyktdj@... You have bad connections to the IC's in the board, IMO. I just fixed a DX7II-FD main board for Jon Morgan. Same symptoms floppy drive errors then all of a sudden it would not boot anymore. The floppy disk controller chip was bad. If you can find a WD1772PH controller chip (Ebay) try it and you may be back in business. This FDC chip can interrupt the CPU and prevent it from booting. --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, krikor kouchian <krikorola@...> wrote:

I just fixed a DX7II-FD main board for Jon Morgan. Same symptoms floppy drive errors then all of a sudden it would not boot anymore. The floppy disk controller chip was bad. If you can find a WD1772PH controller chip (Ebay) try it and you may be back in business. This FDC chip can interrupt the CPU and prevent it from booting.
