No power

No power

2011-07-28 by inicasire

Hi all, I received my emax arrived earlier this week, the power supply board came undone during transit and even though I've put it back, replaced the fuse, check all the internal connections and replaced the connection at the ac theres still no power. there was a small spark near the button when i first tried to power it on can anyone give me any advice on what i should be looking for? I'm not very confident with these sorts of things but I have someone helping me as far as taking things out and replacing them. I look forward to hearing from you guys. I checked the service manual but it hasn't been much help as yet. Thank you in advance!!!

verified the fuse that exists in the AC Plug module where the power cord plugs into the unit is good?

Hi Ted, thanks for replying :)
right after posting the message I checked the service manual again and found the fuse at the rear of the ac plug , it was indeed fried. I swapped it out but still no power. On my psu board where the green and brown cables are attached to the power switch there is another black wire which has a dual female adapter attached to the end of it which I assume clips into the two male prongs on the power board which say AC. The teeth were bent when the board came loose and moved around so I fixed them up but I couldn't get the adapter to make contact or attach securely to the prongs so we cut it off and tried to attach another, any advice on what I can do here or what the part I need to replace it with is called? I have tried with two different types of connectors so far with no luck. We're going to try again this evening.

Thank you so much!!

Mel.

Depending on the PSU it could be the switch for 120/240 and that could be messed up. A pic would be helpful- but you can't send a pic in email to the group.
Reply directly to me and I can perhaps help...

Re: [emax] Re: No power

it sounds to me that this was not connected in the first place

impossible for spade connectors to come of during transit

or the psu coming loose

get back to the person who sold it you as they are pulling your leg saying
the board must have come loose sounds like a broken psu that some one has
played with trying to fix it and did not put it back to gether again
properly

I think you're right, the two red wires at the voltage selector have also been cut but he denies he has done anything to it even though when I opened the unit I could clearly see it had been opened before because it was missing the screws to keep the psu board in place and had a peice of cardboard inside.
