Selling EMAX II w/HD

Selling EMAX II w/HD

2006-04-06 by Alex Pereda

I'm selling an EMAX II Sampler.

I'm not sure if it is the 2 or 4 meg one, I'll check tonight when I
get home.
I added an internal Hard Drive.
It comes with a SCSI cd-rom reader and 2 sound libraries. + the
factory disk library.
I can also include a SCSI Zip drive.

I would prefer someone in the los angeles, california area, but I
would consider shipping it.
I have the original box.

I hate selling it, but unfortunately I haven't used it for a while,
not enough time for musik making.. :(

I'll asking $300.00 OBO.

thanks

the sound discs and CD-ROMs I have are for an EMAX 2 not the first
EMAX.
You can't read EMAX II in an EMAX I, you can read EMAX I discs on the
EMAX II.

Ole - I'm new to this site so havn't quite picked up what you're after.

however, I have a hard drive full of EMAX II banks.
I also use a Zip drive and could copy some banks on to a zip disk or
2 for you and a floppy to ensure you can boot up. 2nd hand SCSI Zip
drives are often cheaply available on ebay and work a treat.

I'd only be interested in covering my postage costs.

Regards, Phil.

Emax HD questions

2006-04-14 by ted Summers

So, I have an internal HD. ID is set to whatever the factory setting
is (0 I believe). Emax will boot from it. OS version says Emax SE HD
1.1. Have a floppy with this os ver too and can boot from it as well

Just got a Zip100 Plus (SCSI Autodetect). Hooked to external port.
Whenever I try to use the transpose to choose ID 5 (or 6- the two ID
options that the Zip100 has), The Emax never gives me a SCSI ID
choice. Nor is there (after selecting Special) a 0 choice (and if I
hit 0 I get nothing). Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ted

Hi Ted, as far as I understood an EMAX SE HD can only have an external
SCSI port after an upgrade. So your machine clearly has been upgraded :-
)
Now the original EMAX SE HD operating system (the one you probably use)
does not support the transposition of the SCSI ID, as the internal scsi
hd was fixed to ID 0 in the original EMAX SE HD.

The SCSI upgrade contained a special SCSI software disk which enables
you to select the SCSI ID.
But I think you can also use the EMAX OS PLUS operating system. This OS
supports SE and also supports internal/external SCSI hd's. The OS can
be downloaded of course from
http://www.emulatorarchive.com/Samplers/EmaxOverview/EmaxOS/emaxos.html

Just format a disk in you EMAX and put the Plus OS on it by using EMX
or EMXP.

Hope this helps...

I was wondering about that. Not like there aren't enough OS versions
out there to confuse...

I will try it. Thanks for the answer.

Press transpose, if you see it say SCSI ID under where it says transpose, you have the plus OS loaded. Try hitting the number you have the zip set to, but hit the number button twice (5,5) Also try setting the zip to ID 6 and try that. Don't forget to terminate the drive and all that.

If you don't have the SCSI ID screen when you hit transpose, you may try booting from some floppies you might have gotten, the HD might contain an older OS.
