Internal SCSI connection in EMAX II

Internal SCSI connection in EMAX II

1999-11-03 by auer@...

Is the internal SCSI connector for the EMAX II a standard DB50?
It looked a little longer than the internal connector in my mac.
Also, should one of the center pins on the board side be missing?
I have an internal drive on the way and want to
get the correct cabling for it, or be buying an external case for it.

Thanks in advance,

Ed

It is a standard 50 pin SCSI internal. One HDD i can recommend w EmaxII is
the Quantum Maverrick 540. I have two of them installed internally in my
EmaxII. There is only one power cable inside, so youll have to get an
y-cable if youre gonna use more than one internal drive. The EmaxII power
supply seemed to be a bit cheesy so i switched it for a more powerful
PC-supply

About that missing pin i know nothing... Is it missing in the
SCSI-connector? I know that some IDE connectors lack one pin. Thus
preventing inserting the cable wrong.

Thanks for the info I successfully installed a Cooner 540 drive.
How did you mount your drives inside the emax? Hardware from a
pc mounting kit?
thanks -e

I have mounted my two 540's as follows:
Wrapped them into thick packaging plastic and thrown the pack right in and
reassembled the Emax case.. :) Not a very nice solution but they have been
running for two years now, withouth problems. There might be a problem of
overheating though, but I have never had my Emax on for more than a day or
so at a time. There are plenty of room inside, so there is no good reason
for _not_ mounting the drives properly. (Maybe w a PC kit) but I'm too lazy.
