Emax

If you are on the DROP box, shared file- I have put up BOOTABLE EMAX factory images which could be written to Zip or flash with EMXP and have the PLUS OS on them.

You would need to have a SCSI ZIP to do it though.

Also- please note you cannot boot from any external drive unless it's SCSI ID can be set to ID 0.

Unfortunately, without the Plus OS you the Emax doesn't know

to look for the SCSI drive so it can't see it (according to Ted).

Only problem is I cannot figure out how to update to the Plus OS (available on E-synthesists site)

because I cannot get EMXP to work properly on my WinXp machine and burn me a floppy with the Plus OS system So I can boot the

Emax from it!

See the 'Catch-22' I am in here? If I cannot get the Emax I HD to see a SCSI Zip then it won't work with a Zip drive

If I can't get EMXP to burn a floppy I can't boot from/upgrade the Emax OS so it will see a SCSI zip

I am probably going to have move to Plan B and order the HxC Floppy emulator and install in the Emax, then just transfer back and forth via SD card

from EMXP to the EMAX.

This whole SCSI/Floppy charade is becoming wayyyy more hassle then its worth. Can't get any music done because of this arcane protocol with the Emax

disk utilities (1980's technology at best, but to be expected) but man, the upgrade of the OS process is really hard to deal with.

Don't want to sample cause I got nothing to save it to (can't see the SCSI Zip) and all its got is a very small (20MB) internal SCSI hard drive. Hardly enough

to do serious work to which can be saved for later use.

what os is your emax currently running i Would have thought you should already be on a SE HD OS considering you have scsi on the rear panel?

Keep thinking if I get this to function using zip disks I could just forgoe this floppy disk drive BS and be done with the hassles. Has anyone done this or

know if it can be done..same connectors as a floppy? I have seen it done with the HxC floppy emulator so don't see why it could not be done with a Zip drive.
