I disconnected to HD and FDD to install the PCD 50b and when removing to 50 pin from the main board in order to to put in a longer SCSI cable I bent a pin in the Mainboard connector on the end. I straightened it out ok with needle nose and put in the longer SCSI cable. When turning on turning the EMax I know get 'emu diagnostics' on the LED and it just sits there in that mode and never changes I Also's had no power/light up to the PCD I then disconnected the the PCD and reconnected the internal HD and FDD and now when it boots it must says 'loading software' but never fully boots. Man I got a way of making things worse than they were to start. As Ted and Jack noted, the firmware on the unit was read only. I installed the PCD 50B in my PC, re-flashed the firmware and then it worked perfectly in the Emax. I can even confirm that the Emax will format/read/write the 512 MB SanDisk cards. > > > > The bad news is that I can't get the slim floppy working because my soldering/cutting skills aren't up to snuff (I screwed up the JM215A mod twice and don't plan to try again.) > > > > Is there anyone on the list who can mod three JM215As for a small me? > > > > --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "jack" <jammie.emma@> wrote: > > > > > > theres a slot in the side of the scsi connector you use a hook tool to lift it > > > > > > thats the proper way > > > > > > most people pull on the cable but pul;ling to hard can stretch the scsi ribbon giving bad contact > > > > > > on the emax i use 2 hook tools at the sides of ribbon cables > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > > From: ditabeardmemo > > > To: emax@yahoogroups.com > > > Sent: Sunday, November 27, 2011 4:21 PM > > > Subject: [emax] Re: Emax/PCD 50B Installation Problems > > > > > > > > > > > > Jack, I'm working on this now and am going to put the PCD 50B in a computer this afternoon to check the firmware. > > > > > > Quick question: Is there a special tool or process you recommend for removing an internal 50-pin SCSI cable from a device? I installed the PCD 50B, but I can't get it to correctly format a Compact Flash card. Every time it produces an "HD Format Error" or freezes on "Formatting HD..." indefinitely. In one case, the unit froze while it was saving a bank to the formatted disk. > > > > > > > > > > > > Here is what I've checked thus far: > > > > > > > > > > > > 1.
