Anyone know what the special characters on MD are?

Anyone know what the special characters on MD are?

2004-09-02 by sidstationownsyou

I'm just putting the finishing touches on MD Machine Lab. I need to know what the 3 non-
English characters used for kit naming are. I can't tell what their accents are.

The first one looks like it might be an 'A' with a circle above it.

The second one looks like an 'A' with a 'U' above it.

The third looks like an 'O' with a 'U' above it.

Am I correct?

Thanks :)

Andrew

Correct. Pronounced like the A in "all"

> The second one looks like an 'A' with a 'U' above it.

Those are two dots aboce the A (Ä) (like they also use above the u in
German and various letters in French). Pronounced like the the A
in "bad".

> The third looks like an 'O' with a 'U' above it.

Same as the previous one - two dots. Pronounced like the ea
in "early".

BtW; what is the MD Machine Lab?

Nils

Thanks Nils! I posted about MD Machine Lab a couple of weeks ago:

http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/elektron-users/message/9472

MD Machine Lab is a Machinedrum editor I'm writing for Mac OS X. It's a rep=
lacement for
the app I wrote a couple of years back called "Machinedrum Machine Maker" (=
the old app it
still in the "Files" section of the elektron-users group).

I'm planning on releasing the beta to a handful of beta testers next week. =
Provided they
don't find any bugs, the final version should be out soon after.

Do you speak Swedish Nils? If so, do you think you could help me out transl=
ating a few
words and phrases for me? I want my app to support as many languages as pos=
sible. I'd
really appreciate it :)

Thanks again,

Andrew

That would be wicked! I'll email you when it comes time to translate everything.
Internationalization is the very last step before I release MD Machine Lab.

Thanks,

Andrew

Sounds very cool! What a shame I'm on PC.. :-/

I'm sorry, I'm Norwegian so I don't speak or write it fluently, I
just grew up with Swedish children's televeision :) But I'm sure
there are plenty of Swedes out there on the list who can help. When
it comes to Norwegian, there's probably no point in supporting that
language - most Norwegians understand Swedish very well, besides
we're quite a small population.

Good luck with the Machine Lab!

Nils

My brother's wife is Swedish and my wife can speak some Swedish. I
could probably help you there too, but there must be some Swedish
speakers here that can help. Not to mention someone at Elektron that
should be able to help when they aren't busy.

I hope you can keep the notes simple. I don't want to ask other
people too much.

Excellent! Don't worry, all the translations are really short things like "track being edited"
or "EQ frequency".
