Steiner questionne

2004-02-07 by Krimo

Hi all,

Doing Oakley SVF and CGS Steiner VCF this weekend. Got a few questions
about the notes/modifications, mainly because I can't figure out
difference between "Rev 1" and "first and second run" (I think second
run isn't necessarily the same as Rev1?)

-Is it correct that input elec's polarities are all correct on the rev 1
pcb?

-Is it correct that the 10 uF elec between output transistors and input
of the op amp buffer still has to be installed backwards on the rev 1
pcb?

-Is it correct that all the changes suggested by Nyle Steiner are
processed on the rev 1 pcb and that I can just "stuff away" except for
last question?

Thanks in advance,

Krimo

You should check the archives for my Steiner VCF notes. It is not a matter
of simply "stuffing" the PCB irrespective of the revision.

You can stuff the Rev 1 board exactly as it is. It is correct.

The first run was the prototype run - only 10 boards. The second run dealt
with some minor errors. Not many of these were made either. Rev 1 covered
more errors and Nyle's suggestions, and is the bulk of the PCBs that have
been made.

yes.

No. The 10 uF in question was replaced by a 1uF in Nyle's revision. The 1uF
is the correct way on the PCB.

just stuff away.

"To stuff or not to stuff. that is the question", or was it: "Stuff
first ask questions later" :-)

Thanx for the answers John and Ken!

I'll first try the original design and if I find any pot range trouble
I'll try Johns adaptions.

Just found out my Wima 2n2's don't fit next to each other, bummer.

Will let everyone know how it works out.
