Is this an SDSV?

Toms absolutely SDSV

About the snare, I´ve seen this concert a lot of times but I´m not sure. I think it´s not from a SDSV.

YMO used a lot of other drum synths as well. Most known are the
Ult-Sound DS-4 and I think that is a better candidate for the snare
sounds here.

The equipment list for the 1983 album BGM lists Pollard equipment as well as Ult-Sound, so it may have been a Syndrum (but they tend to be better for quirky effects than for snares).

I have a Syndrum Quad and used to own a Ut-Sound DS-2, but maybe Thomas
can enlighten us. I think he has both (and tonnes more).

BTW, Syndrums and good for snares too. It just depends on the snare
you're after. :D

Hi guys,

the snare and toms are SDSV in my opinion and I can get the sounds easily with mine and they are classic sounds.
Not sure about the bassdrum, but I cannot see the rack or brains of Takahashi.
Keep in mind they mixed the sound of the venue with the recordings, so you get unusual reverbs.

Also keep in mind that the SDS V sounds different when played with the original riot shield pads then using
it with triggers from a drummachine i.e.

They used ULT-4s in previous pre Simmons years and you can usually see all the ULT pads with Takahashi easily.

Hope that helps :-)

Best,

Thomas

i think there is a drum machine on the side by the fan.  table top with a sloped top.  not likely an SDS5.  i hear linn sounds and other sounds maybe it's an SDX off stage? or sampler?

Just wondering if anyone here has any tips on how to fix the triggering component for my SDSV pads.  It seems the sensitivity of the surface no longer works.  Is it something that can be replaced electronic-wise?  I really don't want to get rid of the pads because of this reason.  SDSV pads are rare these days especially the ones in blue color.  Any info is greatly appreciated!

If it's "just" the pad that is wacko, I'd open it and check if the piezo
element has died. Piezos are cheap and easy to find. They basically
generate a voltage that is larger if you hit harder (i e louder).

Don't trash anything 'cause it's dead. The electronic parts inside a pad
can easily be counted. 1-2-3?

If you mean that there are problems at the other end (verifying this
with other pads etc) it can be trickier, but everything can be repaired.
It's not rocket science.

Hello Jesper,  I unscrewed and removed the edge but noticed the surface cemented to the plywood.  This will not come off without the use of tools to lift it up and I am worry i might damage or better yet crack it.  After all it's been 30 plus years since someone opened it!  The surface has to be removed to access the wiring.  Have u ever opened one of these before?
Thanks.

Don't remove the playing surface! The transducer is glued under the bottom side of the plywood, so you need to screw of the bottom shell to access/replace the piezo

I think a frosted set with mounted LEDs inside so that it lights up upon
hit would've been cool. 80's cheesy?! I don't care!
