SDSV replacement pots?

SDSV replacement pots?

2010-06-06 by gnw

Hi folks, new member and Simmons newbie here. I went from having no
Simmons gear to scoring twice in a week on the local Craigslist, so I
thought I'd join the group. I picked up an SDSV that needs a little
TLC, as well as an SDS 1000 with bass drum and four pads that's fully
functional.

My SDSV needs a couple of pots replaced, and I'm curious whether anyone
has worked out a replacement part number from any of the US suppliers
such as Mouser, Digikey or the like. Before I duplicate work that's
already been done, I thought I'd first ask here on the list. I saw in
the archives that the subject comes up from time to time, but I didn't
find any part numbers posted. Alternatively, if anyone has some for
sale, feel free to shoot me a PM.

Thanks much,

george

Is it the actual potentiometers you need or just the caps ?

I'm actually looking for the potentiometers themselves. I have a few
with snapped shafts.

Is there any rational reason to use original potis? I can't see any difference between the old ones I replaced and the new ones?

Weird question...
not more rationnal to use originals than others really ...

But to have been caught by some new & recent ones, I prefer using the original
so I'm sure that it's fitting precisely where it must go.

After you know... every one is free...

On my 3 SDS-V\ufffds The shafts doesn\ufffdt stick out very much.....only 3 mm or so.
Just so the knob grabs around the shaft.

Look if the actual pot has been pushed in to far.

Thanks for the suggestion! I completely neglected to take off one of
the other knobs to see how they attach. I saw the center screws on the
others and assumed that they threaded into the shaft. It looks as
though the two pots in question may have a millimeter or two snapped
off, but there's still enough shaft there to work with. I guess I don't
need replacements after all. Thanks again!
