My SDS-8 bass was sold without the spurs. Where do I procure some spurs, or is this just one of those items that goes bye-bye and the missing spurs become a thing of legend? I think it should be do-able to get some type of piping from the hardware store and make spurs. If so, anyone who has experience with this process, please feel free to chime in! Thanks!

Hi John
I´m afraid you have to wait a pair of spurs or a simmons basdrum with spurs appears on ebay. I have a similar problem, my SDS9 comes with simmons rack system and I prefer the look of spurs in the bassdrum. Some months ago I saw a pair of spurs on EBAY and I bought them thinking that they were simmons spurs. Unfortunately they seems to be from some of the many Simmons copies that began to appear on the market during the 80´s and it´s impossible to adjust them in the bassdrum. of my Simmons kit. Maybe on Simmons virtual museum you could get some help to make yourself a pair of spurs.Luck

in 7 years I have seen bassdrum spurs exactly once on Ebay. They have been left over after a fire :-) So the only reasonable way is to get a bassdrum pad WITH spurs and throw the pad away or to ask someone to weld a pair from iron tubes. --- In Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com, "John" <modorange322@...> wrote:

Hi all shouldn't be that hard, can somebody with spurs, measure them (the diameter)?? Bet it's standard tubing, you go to the nearest metalwordkplace and let them fix you some spurs. My experience is that most craftsmen like those weird guys with those 'stupid" projects, so should not cost to much. I have some workshops I regarly visit for all kinds off projects: these guys allways start nagging, but in the end, they allways help, with a smile on their face, without me paying to much money. Or perhaps look to some chinese hardware manufacturer, you will be surprised what these guys sell (watch out that you don't get their mother in law) suc6 berk

My SDS9 came with a very beaten up mismatched pair of spurs - they fit fine but one was about 4 inches longer than the other. I got a shop to machine the longer one down and rechrome them. Now they match and are as good as new. These spurs are tubing with a solid end insert which is machined down to a point. Perfect for clubbing and then stabbing annoying punters. --- In Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com, "superwolle70" <superwolle70@...> wrote:

Yeah I figure now from these responses the answer is to get some tubing and put them in there. I don't really need pointy ends, I'll probably get some rubber feet for the tubes. --- In Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com, "ken_evans_99" <tycho33@...> wrote:

BTW TO the poster who said to buy the bass drum pad "with the spurs" if you were only there to advise me when I bought these pads.. You may have dissuaded me from spending the $100 for the 5 pads but I doubt it! --- In Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com, "ken_evans_99" <tycho33@...> wrote:

I know we're not supposed to post ebay links, but these seem like exceptional circumstances. The spurs appear in slightly different diameters depending on the pad generation. I would ask the seller --- In Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com, "Chris" <gushi1@...> wrote:

And yes, Ebay links are OK if it's something like this or something for the general debate, like modified units, prototypes, absurdly priced kits, custom paint jobs etc. It's just the common SDS auction I want to avoid the list drowning in. I think we have a good tone here and can avoid the worst flame wars.
