Start by measuring voltages from the PSU. If those are fine continue with
removing and reseating the CPU and memorycard.

While you´re at it, check the mempry card for battery-leakage.

If you´re not happy to continue. Sell it to me ( or someone else on the
list ).

Start by measuring voltages from the PSU. If those are fine continue with
removing and reseating the CPU and memorycard.

While you´re at it, check the mempry card for battery-leakage.

If you´re not happy to continue. Sell it to me ( or someone else on the
list ).

Julian,

you cannot send pics attached to emails to this list. They are filtered out.

You need to upload them somewhere.

May I suggest www.flickr.com

Oooooh, the yellow part of me screams in joy. ;)
(being an EDP-collector for all who have missed that)

Sorry for "off brand" message, but: I am collecting Dynacord stuff as well (YES, I AM SORRY ;-). But I have only 70 sound modules (There were more than 300 available these days...) and want more. So would like to buy some from you. If you sell them only all together with the P20, tell me the price. If you sell the modules seperate: What is the price for each/or10/or20?
Regards
Michael

Yes, that's the reason why I cry all day. Even my cat has more :-)

sillicon mallet

2012-05-13 by Duarte

Hi group. I`m new here.
I have a silicon mallet and I would like to know if someone of you have one. I would like to trade some information. I`m at this moment trying to repair mine by myself. All sensors are now working but I dealing with lack of sensibility from some of the pads. I`ve determined this is due to the degradation of the upper part sheet from the sensors with the carbon rectangles.
Does anyone have any ideias about to repair ou improve this? Any spare part laying around somewhere?

Thank you.

Check your ribbon cable for hairline cracks. They degrade after years of
being folded. You can use a circuit writer pen to repair the traces. Caig
Laboratories (makers of De-Oxit) sell the pens.

Thank you for your advice. That part has been done. I`ve traced back all missing connections with a conductive pen.
Now I`m striving for perfection. Any advice on restoring the upper carbon part to full performance?

I remember that the carbon lost the conduction after a time and there was a carbon spray laquer, conductive, to be applied. As I also remember, the carbon in SDX was not flat at the bottom, it stood on little legs to create a small space between coil/foil and itself. This means: The "switch" was open until the hit of the stick came.
If these small dots were damaged, the unit had something like a shortcut and had to be replaced.
Examine the underside of the carbon: How does it look like? If there are wrinkles, it is broken and causing shortcut. Are these "feet" ok or flat?

Yours

Michael

Same thing with Star Instruments Synare (first electronic Mallet?). A
spacer stopping the foils to make contact. If they do, it short circuits
everything else (especially on a monophonic unit like the Synare).

The carbon parts that provoque less sensitivity look alike those with best performance. You can`t tell by eye the diference I think. If you look more closely you can see it is divided by pairs of lines, one dark, one just a little bit brighter, repeated several times. But all look alike.

For instance it reacts diferently depending where you hit it within the rectangle. On the center part is where it is less sensitive of course and outside is where it performes best.

Do you think that Carbon Laquer would fix that? Where can I get that?

One more thing. If it was in short circuit that key would play indefinitly wouldn`t it? That´s not hapenning.
