Curious. What was the original application intention for this thing? It looks like it may dub as a non-midi multipad, but seems to have no way of mounting it practically. I must assume it was meant for a tabletop or something? Too bad the sound modules weren't built in as well. - Roland PS - I wonder what customs would think if one were to try and drag this through the airport !!! _____________________________________________________________ Scan, remove and block Spyware. This was done for a studio (or travel) use to trigg the SDSV from a compact multipad... Maybe the first multipad in fact... BUT... the Crosstalk beween pads was terrible...(bc of the same polycarbonate surface as the original pads...) so it's a very Nice object, but quite unusable I'm afraid...& still this terrible touch as well... Unless you don't know anything about it & think It will solve all your trigging problems ... but It might bring some new ones... ;- ) I wonder why the seller didn't sell it for £400 ...?... :-)))))) Patrice. Kind of stupid on my part, I offered him $500 USD thinking it had modules in it !!! I agree, he should have taken that ( roughly $1,400 USD ? ) cash if that offer was in fact true. I paid much less than that for my entire SDX system. I still wonder what the reaction would be from customs if you had to open it for them. - Roland _____________________________________________________________ Book your next cruise vacation today! While I've never had crosstalk problems with mine, the foam deterioration would be my point of caution. As the foam ages it breaks down terribly. Mine is almost unusable now. The pads sink deeper into the foam with every hit as it has lost most of its elasticity. It's a cool piece of gear but I wouldn't recommend it for practical usage applications. And that's crazy money for a display item. --- In Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com, Patrice Jacquot <Jacquot.Patrice@...> wrote: > > This was done for a studio (or travel) use to trigg the SDSV from a > compact multipad... > > Maybe the first multipad in fact... > > BUT... the Crosstalk beween pads was terrible...(bc of the same > polycarbonate surface as the original pads...) > > so it's a very Nice object, but quite unusable I'm afraid...& still > this terrible touch as well... > > Unless you don't know anything about it & think It will solve all your > trigging problems ... > but It might bring some new ones... ;- ) > > > I wonder why the seller didn't sell it for £400 ...?... :-)))))) > > > Patrice. > > > > > > > Le 28 avr. 08 à 19:22, rolandbrenner@... a écrit : > > > Curious. Many synthesizers suffer from FRS - foam rot syndrome. On the Chromalist it's a problem almost everyone has heard of. Nice cherry end cheeks and sticky black foam is not a nice comination... :( The suitcase kit looks extremely cool though and I guess you can refoam it at your local camera case designer or similar. I used to live close to a store which only cut foam from morning 'til night. Bordering on on-topic: I got my Drumfire delivered by DHL today. Not the quite common two channel unit seen on Ebay from time to time but the five channel desktop version, similar to the SDS-8. Crunchy and outworldly sound, similar to my UP K2-X. It came in the original box which was a nice surprise since I missed that part of the auction... :D http://www.spheremusic.com/userimages/Img5795.jpg -- electronically yours, jesper - -- --- ---- ----- ---- --- -- - www.electronic-obsession.se www.myspace.com/machinepop - -- --- ---- ----- ---- --- -- -

In what context did you use it ? I think there's a trigger module that is offering a suitcase connection (TMI maybe ) to get some clean signal from each pads... I must have read that crosstalk problem in the Simmons book or whatever ... Maybe Bob talked about the use with huge monitors systems... Anyway, Thanks for sharing your experience... Patrice. Yes, I think the TMI's got a suitcase input. I can check later tonight if you want it confirmed (at work now). -- electronically yours, jesper - -- --- ---- ----- ---- --- -- - www.electronic-obsession.se www.myspace.com/machinepop - -- --- ---- ----- ---- --- -- -

exactly. Same interface as the SDS8, SDS9, 200/400/800 have. The way the connection cable suitcase kit -> TMI needs to be wired is explained in the SDS800 manual on page 16 (I could not find it in the TMI manual for whatever reason, probably I am too blind...). Suitcae2midi, interesting project... --- In Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com, jesper <jesper@...> wrote:

But it must be a weird cable ... Anyone would have the connection schematic...? Le 29 avr. 08 à 12:14, superwolle70 a écrit : > exactly. Same interface as the SDS8, SDS9, 200/400/800 have.
