Simmons SDX Boot from HD

Simmons SDX Boot from HD

2008-04-25 by rolandbrenner@netzero.net

OK, here we are today. Patrice, after the messages from both you and Wolfgang, I powered up the SDX and all of a sudden it booted from the HD !!! Strange, but it seems you have to give it at least 30 seconds between boots. Powering up now seems intermittent in that sometimes booting takes longer than other times.

Anyway, I still think I need to reconfigure the drive a different way as a result of these error screens: http://home.wi.rr.com/zengine/SDX%20Screenshots/

Otherwise, making forward progress. Also, I am currently in contact with someone here in the US that really seems to understand the SCSI interface an how it interacts with different synths. - Roland

About the "Checksum failed" message ...`
I sometimes get that one even with a disk that is still working
afterwards ...

There's something random in the SDX booting...

BE aware as well to disconnect the midi when booting !

Apparentmy the OS boot is going through the midi ...
don't ask me why or how, but I've heard of that ! & actually 2 times
on 3 the sDX is crashing while booting with the midi connected...

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
