If you've lost the sounds in your SDS7, your memory battery is most likely shot. You will need to find someone with a working SDS7 memory cartridge that they can dump their memory to, and you can load your SDS 7 from. If this works, and your battery is faulty, as soon as you power the unit off you will loose the settings again. If this doesn't work, you probably have a more serious problem.
Good Luck!

I've lost the factory settings in my SDS 7 also. I would have though that
there would be someone who would have written the settings down. (There must be
one anal retentive Simmons player somewhere.) The problem is that all the
Simmons brains eventually lost their settings. I had a backup on a working SDS7
memory cartridge but it to lost its memory. It would be nice to have the
factory settings back but it doesn't seem that anyone has actually written them
down and could post them. I realize that it is a lot of work to copy all the
settings but I do know that there are those people that do these things.
(Unfortunately I'm not one of them.)

Well, let's hope there is one person who did and eventually shows up.
Barry

Barry i have just placed my sds7 brain into storage into my loft
today warapped in plastic and cardboard - it was last switched on
about 20 months ago before the birth of my daughter Lauren

- i do know inside the brain case a piece of solder has broken off -
so i don't even know as of today - if i turn on the sds7 brain it
will even work , and if settings will still be stored - my unit is 22
yrs old and still has original battery in it !

i have 1 kit written down on paper - the numerical values for each
setting voice - this was my fave kit sound - and programmed for me by
a studio engineer

i have just bought a new yamaha extreme 2 electronic drum kit to
replace my simmons - i may in future add my sds7 brain and 4 blue
sds7 pads to my new yamaha setup - to run along side it - 2 brains
powered up - yam and simmons - but i don't know yet ?

anyway i am in the uk - i never had a memory card for the sds7 and i
know no one else with a sds7 kit - i also read that each sds7 was
individually calibrated - so someone elses settings may not work on
your sds7 brain , i don't know if this is correct ?

the best i can do to help would be give you my fave kit settings
numerical values

all the best

Roger :-)

I would appreciate that.

I love the idea of mixing the two sets. Hope that works out for you.

I lost all my factory kits and all my favorite kits. The brain is about 20
years old also. If you pack it away and do not turn it on at least once a
month it will lose its settings. As for how long the batteries will continue to
function is anyone's guess. You could solder in a battery case and add two
rechargeables. I wired two cases and have batteries in one case. The second
case will be when I change over so I don't lose the setting I am currently
putting in. This is very time consuming and I'm not sure I like all that I am
programming now. If you (I) work too long you get a little deft to what the sound
really sounds like.

Thanks for any help
Barry
