Triggering MIDI with Simmons Pads

Triggering MIDI with Simmons Pads

2006-10-26 by neilvoss

I'm looking at picking up an SDSV kit/brain but would also like to be
able to trigger MIDI based sounds with the pads (probably samples or
routing into a laptop to control a VSTi or emulated synthesis).

Is it possible to use these pads as conventional triggers with other
audio hardware like, for example, the recent or new alesis converters?

I've spotted older simmons-made trigger-to-midi converters on ebay,
but I assume if it works on any sort of standard it would be better to
just get a newer/smaller piece of kit...

Thanks and sorry if this is a redundant topic!

I've used my SDS8 pads with a Roland PM16 pad to MIDI converter; worked fine. I
guess you'll need to make up socket converters for the Cannons on SDSV pads.
