Re: [Simmons Drums] simmonsdrums.net

2006-09-27 by superwolle70

Oho, I received some specs from the company called "Simmons". I
anticipate that the highlights are: 9V DC Adaptor, 48 practice songs,
pair of drum sticks, ....

I cite my correspondence with the "Simmons sales department". My
Question was:

"Hi,
interesting to see electronic drums labeled "Simmons" after so many
years. So, honestly: Is there any relation between Simmons today and
Simmons in the past but the name and logo? This would be hard to believe?!
Where are your products? Any pictures? Specs? Sounds? docs?
Any presentations scheduled?
Or is this page (and the rumor around it) only supposed to be a kind
of measure for general interest before there will be a physical product?
Thanks in advance for your answers"

And the answer from sales@...:

"Hi Wolfgang,

Thank you for your interest in Simmons Drums.

As you can see, our web site is currently under construction.
It should go live sometime in October, and there, you will find
pictures, specs, manuals and even audio demonstration of some our the
preset kits. Please visit our site again in a couple weeks or so.

Our first new kit, the SD5K, is now available in the USA (our dealers
received their first units last week).
Unfortunately, we do not have distribution in Europe at this time.

In the mean time, here are the main features:

DRUM KIT ELEMENTS

    * 4 Drum Pads (Snare and 3 Toms) (no, the drum pads are not
hexagonal-shaped this time around)

    * 3 Cymbal Pads (Ride, Crash and Hi-Hat)

    * 1 Hi-Hat Control Pedal

    * 1 Kick Pad

    * Complete Frame Stand with Cymbal Holders

Includes: Drum key, 1 Pair of Drum Sticks, 9 connecting cables for
Drum Module, Assembly instructions

DRUM MODULE

a.. 237 Acoustic and Electronic Drum Voices (including many "vintage"
SDS samples) and Percussion Voices
b.. 22 Factory Preset Drum Kits + 10 User Programmable Drum Kits
 c.. 48 Practice Songs
 d.. Metronome
 e.. Reverb Effect
 f.. LED Display
 g.. MIDI Out
h.. Stereo Line and Headphone Outputs, Stereo Auxiliary Input
i.. Includes 9V DC Adapter, User Manual

Best regards,

Customer Service
Simmons Drums "

Re: [Simmons Drums] simmonsdrums.net

I picked up the SD5K yesterday.

Primarily because I've been mic'ing a real set of drums in my studio
and that takes up all 8 of my inputs and I wanted to reduce to 2
tracks if I could...

I can honestly say that it's not quite studio quality.

If anyone is curious, I can give a full review and maybe even post
sound samples if I can get my drummer to come over on Friday.

Acoustic.
