SDS-1 pwr DC adapter - is 6 volt, 50 ma correct?

SDS-1 pwr DC adapter - is 6 volt, 50 ma correct?

2005-12-06 by Tom Bastedo

Hi all, I'm trying to get a dc pwr adapter for an SDS-1. I found a copy of an SDS-1 manual online, but it said 6 volt, 50 ma. Can this be correct?

I can't find any adapters with that low of a ma rating. Thanks for the help,

  Tom

I shouldn't think the SDS1 draws much power at all. There's very little
in it. Mine seems to run for months on a set of duracells, but I don't
use it much.

Don't worry about the current rating - as long as the polarity is the
same, the voltage is pretty close, and the current rating is the same or
higher, you'll be set. That goes for nearly anything that uses an
external PSU, except funny things like Alesis kit that needs an AC supply.

Gordon.

I use a cheap wall wart that has switchable voltage. I run my two SDS-1s on
the same wall wart with a splitter cable between. So, no it's nothing
critical. Don't go up to 9 volts though 'cause you might fry something...

On semi-digital equipment going lower might prove interesting though with
loss in sound quality which sometimes is very interesting... A friend did a
track with a TB-303 where he slowly sucked the power out of it - interesting
results!

electronically yours, jesper
