although a little out of touch on cutting edge technology i belive they were called cheetah basically rhe same pedals the guy from def lappard used (uses? ) would work as respond to location and sensitivity as opposed to the nomal on off with electronic hihats - can't say if roland works 'cause i've only used them in a shop
i have two pedals but no i'm not selling as i like the twin hihat setup - think dream theater and you'll get an idea on my setup when it's all running
i'm sure a quick poke around defleppards site or similar would give clues
the sdx stock pedal uses a smaller version the transducer mesh in the drum pads and is a pretty solid piece of kit unlike the stock simmons fottswitchs that shipped with sds9's sde's etc

  Hi,
does anybody of the SDX owners have experience with a non-Simmons
hihat pedal? Unfortunately I got mine without one. I only have some
kind of piano sustain pedal which does not offer the intermediate
state between open and closed hats. I guess the Roland FD-7 does not
  either.
  Any suggestions? Any prices?
  Thanks in advance
  Wolfgang

I just saw that the new Roland FD-8 HiHat Controller has fluent levels
between open and close state. Maybe I'll try that one.
Thanks for advice, David

Hi Wolfgang,
let us know if somethig else works ...The trigger of the HHpedal is an Force Sensing Resistor ...I doubt we could find any now ...I don't know what signal it sends but it's a continuous one with the position detection !?
Mine is unreliable as hell, I would be happy to change it .
Just for Info the Drumtech Pedals commercialised by KAT are using the same technology !

Good Luck ...
Patrice.

Re: [Simmons Drums] which HiHat pedal works with an SDX?

2005-02-04 by Patrice JACQUOT

Hi David,
I wonder if it's the FSR or the circuit in the SDX that don't manage well the informations of the trigger ...but I have to re-set up all the time the pedal treshold ...
it's not always an appropriate response ...
I don't find it a very serious piece of gear as it seems to me not so reliable .
But it's good to hear from your on experience with it !
hey David , is that you how is using the Sequencer of the SDX ?
Please , tell me more about your use of it .
bye,
 Patrice.

Re: which HiHat pedal works with an SDX?

2005-02-04 by flybot2000

On the F.S.R. topic...

Interlink was the manufacturer for Simmons' various SDX F.S.R.
elements. I checked with the company (still in business here in
California) and asked if they still had templates or parts for any or
all of the Simmons SDX pads and pedals.

Sadly, they do not. They said all the original templates and plans
were sent back to Dave Simmons some years ago. If he has any of the
stuff, it would be wonderful to get our hands on it.

I know where Dave is today but hesitate attempting to contact him
about drums. Any opinions, or has anyone actually spoken to him?
