to split the pads rear shell........ basically stick finger(s) into the hole where the mounting tube fit and push hard or very hard on the shell it shopuld pop

Remember that the pads were painted on the _inside_ of the originally clear plastic. So if you re-paint them they will never stay as nice in the finish as

as jesper says its a midi thru only the mtx 9 ws designed back in the day as addon for the sds9 to digitise the toms (or in my case add another 3 things to hit
