Re: [Simmons Drums] Please Help with Portakit

2010-02-22 by Eduardo Ojeda

Well thanks for all your help; my Portakit is back, alive and kicking...... The CLEAR ALL function restored it to close to "factory settings" and now is working fine.

Made in 1988, 22 years old and it is performing like "brand new".

Thanks again,

E

Page 84 in the manual says: "CLEAR is a utility function which allows any kit, song or sequence to be initialised with it's default settings". The "default settings" are explained on page 99

The question is: Does the Portakit still know what "default settings" are after a battery change?

I don't know if there is something like a global factory reset. The common way would be to import a SysEx backup if you have one (what I doubt...). Probably some kind Portakit owner supplies you with a SysEx dump if the CLEAR function does not provide the desired result?
