Many used the TMI and SDE with an acoustic set with microphones. This way you could mix the acoustic sound with the electronic of the SDE. I have no scanned version of the TMI, "just" the paper original. Better indeed would be to find a SDE manual... or someone with good knowledge of it. I thought you'd looked here already, but maybe not then.
