As mentioned, I have no SDE. But yes, as I would guess it simply sends 
the in signal to the out. Many used the TMI and SDE with an acoustic set 
with microphones. This way you could mix the acoustic sound with the 
electronic of the SDE.

I have no scanned version of the TMI, "just" the paper original. Better 
indeed would be to find a SDE manual... or someone with good knowledge 
of it.

I thought you'd looked here already, but maybe not then. It should
