Vintage Simmons Drums (UK) Users Group

Hello all! I've been lurking awhile and decided to post.I have a nice  
SDS-1000 set I scored on eBay late last year and have been thinking of 
painting the shells of the pads.These are the SDS 9 style.They are 
black, which seems to be plentyful,so I'm not too worried about 
decreasing their value...plus I plan to hang onto them.
 I'm wondering who has done this and what types of paint/primer work 
best?I may do some step by step photos as I go.Any advice will be 
appreciated.Thanks in advance.
