Any recommendation for a specific model of oscilloscope? Just want to
use it to calibrate my M15's. Cheap-but-does-the-trick-with-minimal-
hassel would be good. I've been looking on ebay but since I don't know
jack, I could use some input.

Thanks in advance.

A Tektronix 465, you'll be good.

Look in your local newspaper or ads. You should be able to find them
pretty cheap used.

don't understand what's wrong with a software oscilloscope like Signal
Analyzer: http://www.rs-met.com/freebies.html

all you want to do is calibrate your M15, you might as well get
something for free.

The main problems with software scopes are they don't generally handle
DC voltages, and they are not callibrated.

Did anyone say there was anything wrong with a software scope? You
really do have an abrasive condescending tone in most your posts
argitoth.

for a guy who dislikes digital so much, you sure do rely on it a lot.

thanks Chris Muir, finally I know why people need an analog
oscilloscope. now I can stop suggesting digital ones.

I have not used this scope, but it is cheap, small and new (so it will probably work on arrival, unlike a 25 yr. old tektronix). Should be plenty enough for looking at signals in a patch, calibration of AF gear and what not:

Assuming that you are replying to a previous message where I said:

I wasn't speaking about the difference between analog and digital, but
between the difference between a software scope that uses whatever
audio inputs may be available, and a hardware scope that has dedicated
calibrated inputs.

Many hardware scopes are digital these days, and are really good.
