CGS panel

2007-08-05 by dhamaryder

Hi guys and girls, I just joined this site because I heard it was possible to get panel
designs. I looked through the files section and there sure are a good number, pretty
impressive. I'm looking for one for one of Ken Stone's modules, the VCO version 0.4.
There seems to be one in the CGS section but I couldn't open it(at least I think that's what
it was). Would anybody happen to have that particular module in a PDF file or something I
could open easily? (I'm using a Mac)
thanks a lot,
steve

yes, despite promises the Mac version of the FPE designer app is not
yet available.

if you have an Intel Mac, you could run it with Parallels or Boot
Camp, like i do. if you need screenshots of any of the FPD files in
the files section, let me know and i'll send them over.

alternatively, here's a picture of Richard Brewster's CGS VCO panel,
complete with accompanying FPD file.

(although admittedly he didn't implement all the features of the VCO)

FYI, I use FPD on an Intel Max (Parallels/WinXP) without problems. I'm
rather stunned at the number of CAD programs that work under
Parallels, including Rhino, Vector CAD/CAM, FPD...

You can read about my VCO project here.

http://www.pugix.com/cgs-vco.htm

You should think about panel features you want for your CGS VCO. There
many options to consider, and it's no problem filling up a 2U panel with
CGS VCO features. Look around the files section for ideas. Mine has
only the features I wanted. Some minor issues with my 1U CGS VCO
panel: 1) It uses 0.4 mm engravings -- I recommend using 0.2 mm now,
for reasons that have been discussed on this list. 2) It uses my
original tic mark style, which is more costly than HPGL tic marks. I'd
like to point out that you can easily fit two toggle switches in the
space above the jacks and below the pots on a standard MOTM 3-pot,
6-jack layout. The switches are 0.7 inches above the jacks.

(If anybody would like one of my older FPE designs like the CGS VCO, but
with HPGL tic marks and 0.2 mm engraving, I'll be happy to make one for
you.)

I always start a new FPE panel by taking some other one to use as a
template and SAVE AS the new file. My 2U Dual CGS VCA panel can be used
as a template, if you like:
