Andrew - for the record... no disrespect taken at all - and yes, we are crazy. <LOL> As the originators of the perverse 5U version, we freely acknowledge the advantage of Scott J's original 3U version... real estate! And the 3U version also presents the four - what - "channels"? in a way that may be slightly more intuitive for some users. With my human-engineering hat on, I see the benefit in both designs. In our case (due to our self-avowed insanity <G>) real-estate is not an issue. Just a note - lest we forget - that the true, distinct benefit of the 5U design (a fringe benefit, in a way, from trying to make a strictly MOTM compatible design) is that the 5U version has the space for the four outputs Scott says he left out of the 3U design - the SINE jacks. So for those that want those outputs, the 5U version is probably the way to go. But otherwise... hey... Clearly, it's great that Scott Deyo will manufacture the 3U version this run. Again - no offense taken - ever - and further, we agree... the 3U version is great... we'll put it up on the DragonflyAlley.com site along with the 5U version.
