Hi Mark, Looking through a back issue of the marcos club magazine I have found some info on rear brakes for your car. Volvo 3 litre :- Rear brakes from Capri 3000 GT Mk1. Rear wheel cylinders - Capri 1600 GT Mk2 Girling part Nr. 6467855 Seal kit SP 2369 Brake adjuster assembly Cortina Mk2 Be careful to check bore diameters of new cylinders as ford used a similar pattern for many models and the only difference is the bore. Your car may not have standard cylinders fitted so if in any doubt change both to maintain a balanced system. Best Regards Lee Brinkley 1600 GT lbrinkley@... Hi Group,
There is a company called Team Blitz in Ohio who are strictly
a European Ford Capri parts supplier. I had to replace the tailights
on my car and he had them in stock at a very reasonable price.
I can't find his website call letters but if you punch up
TEAM BLITZ on a search you will find it............also on Yahoo
there is a chat group called "Capri List" that has a quite
knowledgeable
bunch of guys.

Hi Dave, Your taillights are from a Capri???? How did you figure that out? Which model? I have to replace the lenses on mine, but thought that they would probably be a Marcos-special item. Jeff #8052 1984 Ford V6 GT

Mark Is the cylinder beyond the "honing" stage? I honed mine and they work just fine. No leaks. The rubber seals shouldn't be hard to get. What bore is the cylinder?? 5/8" or 3/4" or 7/8" ? I might have the seal depending on the size. Paul, Just went to the local auto parts store and got a cylinder hone. It consists of two "honing" stones approx. 1 inch long and 1/4" wide. It fits in my electric hand drill (1/4" shank) and then use a little oil and be careful. There was a ridge of built-up s**t in mine that was easily removed. Then I just flushed it and installed new seal and voila! Pic at: www.bobstools.net/Store/LS10000.html or go to www.google.com and search for "brake cylinder hone". Mine has two stones. This one has three. Hi Jeff
I just cross referenced the part #'s on the origional lenses.
I am assuming somebody replaced the tailights after the car left the
factory...........I also owned a 3 litre Capri when I lived in England
which helped me identify the lenses . I have also read that the rear
lights are from a Hillman Imp.

Hi Don. What is the bore on your cylinders?Mine is 3/4 inch but I am not sure that this is the correct bore .And what do the rest of you all out there say? Mark P.

Mark, I looked in my spares and all I have is 7/8" and 1" rubber seals. My rear brake cylinders are 3/4" also. Any foreign auto parts store should have Girling kits. I ended up getting Volvo kits at the local shop. Just have them look up brake kits and get a 3/4" one. The seals are all about the same. I used a brake master cylinder 3/4" seal to replace my clutch slave cylinder seal?! Good luck! Hope you can make Davis show on Saturday.
