E Bay Motors USA, 1600GT?

E Bay Motors USA, 1600GT?

2015-05-31 by hide809rig169@...

Need to act quickly on this Marcos, check out the Marcos on E-Bay Motors; 281703843129. "There are only four titled in the USA" and "one of the rarest cars". So the description reads. There was yet another Marcos on E-bay several weeks ago that appeared to be cut in half. Look under, auctions completed for that one.

Robin

Three years ago I had some glass work #5916, (the other gays insurance company was paying) so I took the car to a first rate shop in the Bay Area. They did great work but is was very expensive! To fix this car correctly is going to cost a lot of $$$. The car looks like a standard Volvo powered car imported, so a complete restoration would have the owner upside down big time (my two cents).

Thanks

Stephen

Well… it is good to see that the price of Marcos cars is increasing. I hope the guy gets what he is asking. An E-type in the same condition would still command a much higher price even though Marcos is better looking, cost about the same when new, has about the same performance (depending on engine), and is much more rare.

With new materials (the types of glass and resins, both polyester & epoxy) one can/could build any of the Marcos body parts which would be stronger and lighter than original. I’m a sailor and boat builder (as a hobby, so I work with all the new stuff), but this is time consuming and just the materials can get expensive. So it would take a special person to save this car. Given other Marcos cars one could buy, but I hope someone takes the project on!

Thanks

Stephen

Well… it is good to see that the price of Marcos cars is increasing. I hope the guy gets what he is asking. An E-type in the same condition would still command a much higher price even though Marcos is better looking, cost about the same when new, has about the same performance (depending on engine), and is much more rare.

Thanks

Hello:

I emailed the guy and he pretty convinced it's worth every penny.

Oh buy the way no glass,

no bumpers,

lots of trim missing

but the engine can be turned

The smashed hood and cracked hood, something about being hit a forklift when they were lifting it?

Wash it, new battery, new gas and you could drive to California......

I started the renovation of my Mini Marcos Gt.

I hope to have it up and running by the end of the summer.

Ok October is the real goal.....

Oh unless a run away forklift hits in.......

Regards

Robin

Steven,What a cowinkydink... I worked for Morgan Yacht Corp. in Clearwater, Fl. back in the early 1970's. I was a sailor and owner of a sail boat until the hole in the water got to be more than wanted to fill (dock fee, insurance, bottom jobs etc.). I have been making molds off my car for a few Marcos owners over the years.

LarryWith new materials (the types of glass and resins, both polyester & epoxy) one can/could build any of the Marcos body parts which would be stronger and lighter than original. I’m a sailor and boat builder (as a hobby, so I work with all the new stuff), but this is time consuming and just the materials can get expensive. So it would take a special person to save this car. Given other Marcos cars one could buy, but I hope someone takes the project on!ThanksStephen#5916T

Attached are two photos:

1. My Marcos which I’ve owned since 1976 is one of the eleven with a TR6 (European spec power) it is the only on in the US., a few years ago an owner is Switzerland tracked all eleven cars down. Car still buts a smile on my face when the RPMs are up and we are going around a corner!

2. The other one is my Ketch out of the H2O on the hard, getting her bottom done.

If you make it out to Northern CA, please stop by and we can go for a sail!

Thanks for help keep several Marcos on the road!!

Great boat. Brings back a lot of good memories.

The Marcos looks fantastic. Wish you could make it to Macon, Ga. for the show in October.

Larry

Attached are two photos:

1. My Marcos which I’ve owned since 1976 is one of the eleven with a TR6 (European spec power) it is the only on in the US., a few years ago an owner is Switzerland tracked all eleven cars down. Car still buts a smile on my face when the RPMs are up and we are going around a corner!

2. The other one is my Ketch out of the H2O on the hard, getting her bottom done.

If you make it out to Northern CA, please stop by and we can go for a sail!

Thanks for help keep several Marcos on the road!!

Stephen

Steven,

What a cowinkydink...

Larry

With new materials (the types of glass and resins, both polyester & epoxy) one can/could build any of the Marcos body parts which would be stronger and lighter than original. I’m a sailor and boat builder (as a hobby, so I work with all the new stuff), but this is time consuming and just the materials can get expensive. So it would take a special person to save this car. Given other Marcos cars one could buy, but I hope someone takes the project on!

Thanks

Stephen

A new bonnet would br far less expensive. my self, i would make a mold from my bonnet and fab a new part.

Well… it is good to see that the price of Marcos cars is increasing. I hope the guy gets what he is asking. An E-type in the same condition would still command a much higher price even though Marcos is better looking, cost about the same when new, has about the same performance (depending on engine), and is much more rare.

Thanks

Stephen

Regards

Robin
