Interesting find today

Interesting find today

2005-09-28 by boardjunkie1

Doing my usual thrift store rounds today I saw something in the
distance that I thought was another Casio piece of crap and when I got
closer discovered it was a Juno-106! Looked at the price
tag......$19.99. Um yea....let me think about that for a few
milliseconds....duh. No power cable, but the goofy socket Roland put in
there was interchangable with a standard IEC type socket so I stuffed
one of those in to make it standard. Cleaned it up, powered it up and
it all works (no dead voice, yay). Not bad for $20 eh? Never know what
you'll find in those "junk stores".....fer sher. Now if it was a
Prophet or a Jupiter 8 I'd probably have had a heart attack right there
on the spot.

Wonderful find, but you hurt my feelings!! If you come across a casio
mz2000, you may pass up the best keyboard made, for making music.

Oh, I wasn t saying *all* Casios are junk, just most of them as they were consumer machines. I almost bought a CZ-1 at a pawn shop for $130.00 just to use as

I bought an Oberheim 6R for 75$ a few months ago... went to burn a
rom IC for my Trident's MIDI converter circuit and there it was. The
guy at the shop didn't even know what it was... Got the synth (plus
the service) for 75$. Didn't utilize it much yet though.

There are great findings in the flea markets - I bought my Farfisa
Lido organ for the same 75$, and a Korg MS-10 for 100$.

That is right. I know you meant, the real cheezy ones. I would like a
bargin on an alesis micron. I may like it or may not, but the features
seem like alot for moderate price. Anyone here tried one? But then
again , I need to work on the vocals, so my $ now is going to that
gear. I am pretty satisfied with what i get out of the sx210, and a
few other analogs. I may wish one day all was on the computer... who
knows? I have not tried the soft synths. It would be the only way i
would get a CS 80 , Minimoog or CS pro one!

The Native Instruments Pro-53 (prophet emulator) is a great sounding softsynth, as is the B4 (hammond emu). I tried a demo version of the minimoog V and never
