Hi,
If the battery is too low, then the RAM contents will have been lost.
Usually this means all programs in RAM are lost, which may be all there are.
In that case, the CPU should operate normally in terms of what you see on the
front panel and how the switches operate. But if you hit a key you may not
get any sound, since all of the parameters for the programs are gone, and are
more or less random values depending on how the RAM chip comes up.
If there is a rechargeable battery in there, you should remove it in any case,
to avoid damage if it leaks later.
To me, it sounds like you have some other problem that is causing the CPU
to not run properly. I would check the reset signal to the CPU, simply because
it's something you can do with just a meter, assuming you do not have an
oscilloscope.

Hi to everybody and thank you for letting me in
this group.
My cousin gave me an sx240 he
bought in 1984.
It doesn't work.
When I switched on the Kawai, sometimes nothing
happens, sometime there's a little bip and then nothing,
sometimes randomly some buttons are one, something appear on
the lcd screen, but with no meaning.
I
opened it and it seems that the battery didn't leak,
even though it's 32 years old.
Can it be
the battery with no charge? If I manage to remove the
battery, the sx240 should work the same, without obviously
saving changes made? Or it seems something more serious,
maybe something electric or electronic?
Thank you in advance.
Have a nice day.
