It sounds like your Silverfast HiBit scans do not have gamma correction (easy to do) whereas your Epson HiBit scans do. You should definitely check out Ian

Dave, Hibit mode in the Silverfast software is actually a RAW file format. As such you need to check box in the options that says something like HDR OUTPUT .
