DTXpressII Amp - Weighing In

DTXpressII Amp - Weighing In

2003-07-17 by draker2003

HI Stephanie,

First, I'm still a "newbie" with my DTXpressII, so there may be
others with a little more perspective than whatever I have to offer.
2nd, anything you see from Liberatusvirus is solid info - Ed was very
helpful when I was getting started....as are most of the other
DTXpress input. And third, here's my input:

I actually bought a Behringer 1200 KX Amp from the Guitar Center for
$249 and I like it! Despite some reported problems others may have
had, the KX1200 came well-protected in its box, no chips, gouges or
other cosmetic issues, etc. It's got plenty of power, 15" speaker and
has inputs/outputs for most musicians' needs. It sounds "clean",
handles the bass thumping nicely with no buzzes/hisses, and overall,
I'm pleased. I wanted to buy "new" and have a warranty if something
went haywire, but that's just personal preference. For a decent
economical approach, I'd at least check out the Behringer and see if
it fits your needs. Adios. - Draker

Hi Draker:

What were all the reported problems others have had? Any performance-related?
Is the Roland KC-350 all that much better than the Behringer model? Anyone
with an unbiased opinion on this can jump in, too.

This is my $300-400 we're talking about here. Some months, I live on less
than $900 a month, and some months, I live on double that, so I have to be
VERY careful here.

Thanks guys!
Stephanie

Sound effect in metronome work

2003-07-17 by Stephanie

Hey guys:

I just noticed something. Yesterday, I was using my drum set through my PC
speakers, so I had to turn the click volume down. Today, when I put my
hearing aid adapters in and worked on the timing, I had forgotten to turn up
the metronome. While I was working with this, I noticed something I had
heard once in a while in many, countless situations. I noticed that the
click is roughly about the same volume as the snare I'm playing on (that's my
mesh head pad). If I hit a little off, like early or late, I hear the full
sound envelope of the click plus the note. If I hit dead-on, I hear the
snare plus the click, but the first fraction of the click's sound envelope is
not there, covered up by the hit of the snare it if's hit just right. I just
hear the snare plus the click's remaining sound envelope. I feel like it
tells me that I'm hitting dead-on, from my perspective. If I turn the click
up louder, where I usually have it, then I don't get that effect and hear the
full click even if I hit dead-on.

Anyone use this to advantage to tighten up the drumming timing during
metronome work, by making the metronome and the instrument at a matching
volume?

Thanks!
Stephanie
