The FAT16 format tops out at 2gig max per drive, if I recall correctly. Message 653 in this group recommends (among other things) using FAT16 over FAT32

This recommendation was directly from HP when I purchased the device while in pharmacy school, first you lose the scroll bar and then slowly the 50G would burn
