Most DVD audio is in AC3 format. There's another format too, which is M2A. I
haven't made the OSX leap yet so can't help you there, but in OS9 there's
freeware that lets you rip either audio format from DVD's and then convert
the extracted file to AIFF, SDII or whatever you want. I work with a couple
video artists who do everything in PAL, and I have to rip everything because
I don't have a PAL player... It's really easy, and no, there's no problem
with ripping the audio!
