Ok, by semi-popular demand I've uploaded my 6U, 19" rack mount panel
design for one SEM1A to the files section of the motmpanel group.
Some notes (if you decide to use/work with this design):
(a) It is tested: I have the SEM installed (good fit - the 4 SEM mounting
holes are very close to the edge of the SEM front panel, so I was
concerned about their fit), with power supply, power switch, and power led
installed (I think this is one of the more interesting basic 70's analogue
synths).
(b) There are 16 available 1/4" jack socket holes (I used SwitchCraft).
There are 3 rack mounting holes on each side. I highly recommend to keep
3 and not reduce to 2 holes.
(c) 4 holes to the left of the SEM rectangular hole are for the power
supply. To its left are p.s. switch hole, above which is led hole, above
which are two holes to fasten the power cord to the panel. The remaining
10 holes about the panel are for fastening an enclosure (the only thing I
have left to do). I used black hex head screws for an 'industrial' look.
The power switch is from an older Fender amp, so already had
"On" and "Off" labels - you can easily add these to the panel if you want.
(d) Things I might do differently: Mount the power supply closer to the
left panel edge. With 3 mm panel thickness there is a very slight 'bow'
to the bottom of the panel - hardly noticable, but I know it's there. The
p.s. I used is 1Amp (more than plenty for the SEM), so a smaller p.s.
would be applicable [probably have to change p.s. mounting holes]). When
the panel is mounted, the left side of the panel is black and obvious -
possibly a different color or some design would enhance the look (the
black goes well with the black SEM lettering ..., however).
I'm interested in feedback, especially if you decide to use/modify it.
