I think with this one you'll really want the input attenuator - if I recall correctly the full on setting gets some pretty extreme distortion. I got to play with some of these a bit back in the 70's.
Personally I vote for small pots, 1U, and I highly recommend staggered pots - like these - http://www.flickr. com/photos/ sduck409/ 4006341916/
