It is all in the Global menu, and if you're using Master Effects then the
effects settings (types and sends) are saved seperately for each Pattern
too (although I couldn't find a mention of that in the manual). If you
only want a few tracks to have FXA effects, here's how:

First, you need to set up one of the 4 effects buses so that the FXA send
amount is 0%. These settings are all under the global menu BTW. That
will make sure that anything sent to that bus remains "dry". Typically I
find it easiest to set up my buses so taht each higher number introduces
more effect. It's just easier to remember that way for me. So my buses
might look like this:

Bus 1: FXA=0 FXB=0
Bus 2: FXA=7 FXB= 5
Bus 3: FXA=15 FXB=10
Bus 4: FXA=30 FXB=20

Now I know that if a track need more of an effect, I can just go to the
bus assign page and raise to it to a higher numbered bus. The opposite
applies if you need less of an effect. If you want a track to not have
any effect at all, just set it to Bus 1. Hope this helps, let me know if
need to clarify more!

Sorry to take up the board- is there a way to send FXA using Send1->Main
feature to only certain tracks and keep all the other tracks clean from
FX? It seems like it's all global.

That was a pretty deep explanation, many thanx rEalm! It works out
fantastic. The only other concern I have is when I set a particular
channel to have an FX send to main and at the same time have
the "RECHANNELIZE MIDI IN to Chan:" set to "always" and I exit the
MIDI edit and scroll through my tracks I get pauses and glitches
switching inbetween tracks. Setting Rechann...chan: to "off" solves
the issue. Trying to see the routing logical reasoning... hmm..
