F.Y.I. Updated E-MU Site

Re: F.Y.I. Updated E-MU Site

$350 a rom now? You gotta be kidding me. For the price of 2
friggin roms I could buy me a sampler and make my own sounds, or buy
sample cd's for a third of the price of a rom. Thank god for VST's.

That is the first thing I noticed. The E-mu ROM's are now more
expensive than the Roland SRX 64 meg ROM's. I hope this does not
carry over to retailers too soon. I was hoping to pick up a couple
more ROM's.

I wouldn't go by their prices on the site, they have the XX-7's for $999
there. BTW, nice new site Emu!

The current prices are incorrect. With the new site, the prices for the ROMS were incorrectly
posted. The programmers inserted the suggested retail price opposed to the selling price. This
should be fixed soon. Please contact us via phone if you would like to order a ROM.

Re: F.Y.I. Updated E-MU Site

2003-07-28 by dwoodaman

Hi Sean -
Not trying to be an ass here, but did it occur to anyone at Emu that
they could sell a hell of a lot more ROM if they dropped the prices?
I realize it costs a lot to record and program this stuff, but paying
almost $300 for ROM, when I bought the box for a little over $400
seems a bit much. If they were half that much, then I would probably
spring for two of them.
Or maybe at least you could clue me in on when the World ROM is going
to go on sale ;*)
Thanks for being interested enough to check out this list, speaks
well for you folks at Emu.

I am defending no one, but the suggestion that an extremely well-seasoned company (remember who E-mu is in this industry for a moment ) does not consider carefully how it prices its products is pretty assanine.

Is there still the deal to buy one and get the other rom at 50% off??

Or is that long gone, will there be any similar deals in the near future?

Thanks in advance...
