I need to setup the XL 7 to be a slave

I need to setup the XL 7 to be a slave

2003-07-25 by tcdave

I need help with setting up the XL7 to be a slave to my Sonar
Software. (Sonar being the Master) I have looked high and low in the
manual under "sync" and "slave" and all I get is a dead end.

Since Sonar cannot play audio as a slave, my only option is to make
the XL7 be the slave.

So, what are the steps?

thanks

Set the XL-7 Tempo to 0 (Ext).

Yeah, but does the transport in Cakewalk "Sonar" control the XL7? It
seems like it would only control tempo.

It seems like it would only control tempo.

The XL-7 also responds to Song Start, Stop, Continue, and Position
Pointer. Cakewalk will transmit these messages, but i can't remember
how to make it do so. Try turning on MMC, maybe that does it. You'll
also want to enable the reception in the XL-7 on the 7th screen of the
MIDI menu (External Song Start/Stop).

As long as Sonar is setup to send MIDI Clock to the XL-7, it'll control
transport too.
