I have both an RS7000 and XL7 and I prefer the RS for my main sequencer, as its easy to use (for me) and is my main sampler. The XL7 however has better sounds, so I use it more for those. Ive never had my RS7000 freeze up or etc, since Ive had it. But I have had my XL7 numerous times, doing crazy stuff. I like Yamahas hardware and Emu's sounds, if I could have a keyboard with the two combined, it would be gravy!

Mainly for the groove control and tighter beats from using an internal sampler (I don't use the mp-7's drums too often). Also how many of the knobs can be used for controlling external gear? Jesse

A quick reply .
2 methods.
Method 1) - Normalize play effect applies to all phrases in that track within a style.
Method 2) - the more flexible option. Edit your groove template ,play effects ,midi delay etc then overdub record to that phrase.
This gives you multiple groove templates for all 256 phrases within a style. You can even copy phrases perform this
job and then have subtle variants of the one phrase for dynamic groove shifts ....

Love the RS, but love the sounds on the EMU even more. Got some questions and thought you'd be the perfect person to ask. Can you walk through the setup to make XL7 a sound module with my RS being the master seq. Right now the only way I can select programs to XL7 via RS is on the first bank (MSB000/LSB000 GM bank 001 to 128) of the RS. I can't access the other sounds on the XL7, can only go up to kits, percs, and hits...Now when I switch the Bank on the RS to access the rest of the sounds on XL7, I get this weird message on XL7 "C01A V127 P00 A:P ???? (not installed). Do you know how to make my XL7 sing with the RS? Thanks and look forward to your response! Kevin Reynolds k_eve_l@...

I DJ'ed (just spun CDs) at the Ava Lounge in NYC last night and mixed in the XL7. X-MIX absolutely rocks for this. 90 percent of the time, no one assumed I was doing anything other than playing CDs! Lots of fun. Will be doing it every sunday. Ravi

Hey Rob,
I have the same setup as you RS7000 & XL7. Love the RS, but love the sounds on the
EMU even more. Got some questions and thought you'd be the perfect person to ask.
Can you walk through the setup to make XL7 a sound module with my RS being the
master seq. Right now the only way I can select programs to XL7 via RS is on the
first bank (MSB000/LSB000 GM bank 001 to 128) of the RS. I can't access the other
sounds on the XL7, can only go up to kits, percs, and hits...Now when I switch the
Bank on the RS to access the rest of the sounds on XL7, I get this weird message on
XL7 "C01A V127 P00 A:P ???? (not installed).
Do you know how to make my XL7 sing with the RS?
Thanks and look forward to your response!
