Sure, pretty much any software sampler will do this. I personally have
been using Reason for creating loops out of my own samples. Once I have
the loops, these get transferred to a Roland Sp808 for use live. All of
it being controlled from the XL-7, they're very flexible in this regards.

First of all thanx to Steve for the tips...

Does anyone know a way (software possibly) to make the MP-7 trigger
my own samples. I have some kick ass samples I want to use in my
tracks. But is there a sampling program out that can trigger
multiple samples while I mix down. if so give a holla

realm,

how do you setup reason ? do you sync your xl7 to reason or do you use
the xl7 as a master ?
if the lx7 is your master, how do you cope with the latency issue when
you trigger sounds from the xl7 via midi ?

i´m thinking of using reason as a sampler, too. my only concern is the
latency issue, because my xl7 has to be master.
if i have to use reason as clock master, i have to buy a new
midi-interface.

btw
has anyone used an edirol 880 or 550 ? is it possible to use the
routing system, when it is connected to a computer ?

>>>Well, Reason will only function as a MIDI slave, not as a master, so
yeah the XL-7 is the master in tthis case. If you go to the MIDI
preferences in Reason, you can tell it which port to use for MIDI clock,
then you just click on the sync button in transport panel. You'll see a
green light below it if you're getting MIDI clock into Reason.

if the lx7 is your master, how do you cope with the latency issue when you
trigger sounds from the xl7 via midi ?

>>>Latency isn't an issue for me, my sound card (Echo Layla 24) drivers
are set to 7ms, and it's very stable. I can run all the way down to 3ms,
but tend to leave it at 7ms to reduce the CPU load and keep the
performance consistant. <<<

i´m thinking of using reason as a sampler, too. my only concern is the
latency issue, because my xl7 has to be master.

>>>As long as your sound card has fairly recent drivers, it's pretty easy
to use without noticing any latency. Anything below 10ms feels fine to
me, can't even tell you're using software. BTW, Reason works awesome with
the XL-7 IMO, very easy to integrate, and the MIDI routing in Reason is
comprehensive enough to let you do a lot with that app. <<<

thanks for the quick answer.
i´ll try out the reason demo as soon as possible. let´s see what my
tiny ibook and a m-audio quattro can do.
by the way, ableton released a new public beta for live 2.1 . i tried
the 2.0 beta and it´s a nice add on to the xl7, especially since it has
a midi delay compensation.
<hint> the 2.0 beta really liked the year 2002 </hint>

the only thing that´s missing right now is time to make music :-(

xl7 and mac os x - Re: [xl7] MP-7 Sampler Help

2003-07-17 by A.Ruesberg

i´m running 10.2.6, but i must admit i used my pc to update the xl7.
as far as i know the e-loader doesn´t work on os x :-(
you habe to use os9 to update.

this may be apples fault since apples java midi implementation is ugly.
they didn´t implement the java.midi classes for extgernal
midi-interfaces. instead they created their own classes. that´s what i
call platform dependet :-(

hey aaron, are there any plans to release an os x compatible e-loader
and
<dream mode = on>
a usb midi driver (with support for the external i/o, please) for mac
(os x ) and / or pc
<dream mode = off>
