Drum ROM question

Drum ROM question

2003-07-16 by erik_magrini@Baxter.com

What's the point of the instrument 779:Play Through? Seems like it an
easy way for someone to sample all of the new drum sounds...

Oops, one more question:

For the instruments like prc:Kick89, prc:Snare 57 etc, what's the root
note required to trigger the actual sampled sound? C3? If so, this new
instrument methodology would help with the transposition ideas Robatchas
and I were discussing earlier, as all of your hits would be on C3 then (or
whatever the actual note number is). Interesting...

From the manual: Instrument 779:
Play Through plays across the sample boundaries in ROM and can be
used for sound effects. Adjust the Coarse Tuning and Sound Start
parameters to begin exploring.

From TnT v. 1: Weird Preset Ideas:

The Preset Patchcord Destination "Sloop" offsets the instrument loop
points. The loop length stays the same. Interestingly, with the
Gain4x cord, you can actually push the loop points *into the next
sample* making for VERY weird and somtimes cool sounds.

MidiX -> Gain4x 100%
Gain4x -> SLoop 100%

My guess is that there's a connection here.

Yeah, I read that part of the manual and played with the examples. But
even using the Gain4x trick (in the tips and tricks doc BTW), you still
can't access all of the samples, only a few next to the first one.

Oh well, if nothing else it makes for a mildly entertaining stoner
evening, once you're done trying to see if there's any other messages
(besides "Go Home Hoser") in the Compact User data now screen after you
try 100 times.  ;)
