A 'thanks' and a tip

2003-07-15 by Brian

I'd like to thank the person who posted about the Emu CD-ROM bundle
deals. I bought them all and now have a nice large Emu collection of
sounds (I'm still converting them to GigaStudio though - it's a big
job).

Also, if anyone here uploads their music to free servers, consider
www.Soundclick.com. I picked them because they are free, they don't
require users to login, and have nice streaming download speeds. I've
uploaded 8 hours of music to their servers, and haven't had to pay a
penny!

I am glad someone else grabbed the opportunity. What is your opinion of
EOS studio bundle? I picked up the synth bundle and was very pleased. I
have not had a chance to get through all of the CD's as my entire
weekend was spent with the millennium synths which is very nice indeed.
Do you have a copy of rubber chickens translator
http://www.chickensys.com/ it might make your task of converting to
giga less painful?

I've been converting about one library a day, and only have converted
Platinum Phatt so far. The Platinum Phatt contains all the sounds
from the Mo'Phatt, plus a bunch of loops - a total of about a
gigabyte of material. I don't really write much hip hop/R&B, so I
don't forsee using this much, but the sounds were fine and very
usable. At this price, it was a no brainer to me.

Small rant to follow...

I use Translator, and my task is TRULY painful. I hate this software,
but the only reason I use it is I don't know of any other software
that does the translations *as accurately*. Still, this software is
loaded with bugs that change it from an automatic process to a hand-
held process. One time I had to scotch-tape the Enter key down to say
OK to approximately 1,000 debug dialog boxes. I report bugs to
Chicken Systems almost every time I use it (I'd report more, but I'm
not a paid employee of Chicken Systems, so I need to get SOME work
done on my own time). I literally emailed them asking them to buy all
the Emu CD's since they were such a good price and they could squash
a ton of translation bugs all at once.

Ok. That was a big rant. But I sure feel refreshed now :-)

What format are the CD samples?

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
