hello drB

the current os version is 2.00
you can download it from http://emu.com/products/mp7/downloads.html
it should cure nearly all bugs and gives you a whole new machine,
because it has so many cool new features.
you´ll see, that the customer support is great since some emu guys are
on this list too. a lot of features in version 2 were suggested by
members of this group.

and don´t forget to look at the faq

http://emu.com/products/mp7/faq.html

Newbie

2003-07-06 by threerocks2000

Hi all, I'm Dr B and am a pround owner of a new MP-7; new to it but
not Emu in general. Just curious: what is the most current operating
sys available for this unit? It boots up as v 1.31. I've also been
hearing a few prominent clicks and pops, mostly in patterns and some
presets when on arpeggio. Also, when playing a pattern (ie Soul
Survivor)I get some prominent drop-offs, like someone "slowed the
record" very briefly, then all's OK. Are these OS-related bugs?
Should I reload the soundset? My only beef with Emu over the years
is spotty customer serv and supp. Thus I rely on user groups for
help. TKS in advance for any help and/or replies. DrB

Nope, if you go to their site there's a v2 of the
system software. This helped fix a crashing issue I
had, but I did hear a poping sound when I was going
through the presets with one preset. It was only when
doing the Audition Not sure what the deal is. It was
only one that I could notice. Playing the patch
didn't do it, so I'm not worried.

If you're installing the new software with a mac, I
hope you have OS9 and OMS installed. Pain in the ass
for this OSX Mark of the Unicorn guy, but when I got
it running it all went swimmingly.

So, welcome! I'm new too. So far so good. Took a
while to figure out the effects routing situation but
I'm almost there.

OS download: HELP

2003-07-06 by threerocks2000

Thanks for all the suggestions. I downloaded OS 2, and would like to
upgrade. Right now, however, I'm in the process of trying to figure
out why my MP-7 won't register on the Midi Setup screen of E-
Loader. I use an Edirol UM-1 usb/midi adapter, and I know it's
configured and working properly (I use it on my Nord Modular, and I
also checked its status thru control panel) but still I'm stuck at
MIDI Setup. All my cables are set right for bidirectional transfer,
yet none is showing on the "tracker." Plus the (right)MIDI light on
the MP-7 is blinking red (the other is not blinking at all.)

So this is an easy download? Am I missing something obvious here?
Any Emu tekkies out there: HELP! I wish not to have to call support
and send an emai and wait weeks for a reply. I consider myself
computer savvy but this may be a hand-hold situation.

System: Toshiba NB, XP Home, 512 M Ram, Edirol UM-1 Midi/USB adapter

Try going directly to the MP-7, launch E-Loader and make sure the
computer sees the device. You do need both cables hooked up for this
also.

Newbie

I just bought an XL7 -- I have pretty much zero experience with
sequencing -- can anyone point me to some resources for getting started?

thanks,

Ethan
