Stay away from Jazz drives! They fail all the time. You'll have better luck with a pc.
Make sure that you

Yes, that's not going to cut it live.

Why? What is the reasoning behind this? If it's on separate channels, why would this make sense?

Thanks for the advice.

the other way i was thinking about this situation is like this, Take
a DJ style mixer paly the meat and potatos out the main mix and what
you are about to bring into the mix out a sub output into another
chanel on the mixer. this way you can record what you are dooing wile
adutioning it in the head phones, make any corrections that you might
have to then bring it into the mix.

The sequencer can't save two different settings of paramiters for one
program. so you have to have multiples. that is the way i understand
it. It is like you have a synth sitting on your desk, when you hook
it up to another midi chanell do another synth suddenly apear?
Nope, i wish it did couse i would have like 32 JX-8P's right now LOL.

A creative solution, but now your are now longer playing live - you're playing 'recorded two minutes ago. Besides, this means that you can't play (for example) a grooving bass line, drop into record, drop out of record and have the bassline keep going.

Ok, now I realize the issue - the quick edit controls are actually altering parameters in the patch. I was working under the assumption that they were acting like regular midi CCs.
